I was able to get a free trip from DS on his return to Seattle this weekend. So I did a 2 day Bike-Naval Museums Tour this week (Monday-Tuesday) Bremerton to Bainbridge. A little warm for northern Puget Sound, IMO. Went off the low carb-Atkins diet 3 days and came back home with 5 extra pounds???? Back unto the zucchini diet.
SLS & Family, hope you are getting the feel of Puget Sound.
I do have your email busdriver. Totally stressed out so I have been delinquent lately with that.
If I could find property we liked in Gig Harbor I think I would go that direction. I am looking at 6-12 month rentals, trying to get a better idea of area. Kent could be good because it's midway between Seattle and Tacoma. Going north is more expensive.
it is quite an adventure and very overwhelming! :) thanks to all for your thoughts. a little sad about leaving LA, but think it will be a great change for my family.
I concur with TutuTaxi's positive thoughts on Bellevue/Kirkand, Gig Harbor, and Edmonds. Especially Kirkland, but I suspect that and Edmonds are way too far north for you. A lot of people I work with live in Gig Harbor, it is really a beautiful community. But traffic will make a huge difference to you, that's for sure. I'm wondering how Kent/Auburn/Maple Valley would end up working. Definitely would rent for awhile so you don't make an expensive mistake.
When you get a chance, I sent you an email awhile ago with 50 questions, but you don't have to answer all of them.....
DS just bought a place. Closer to work, and close to new trolley line. We will be making more trips to SEA. Amtrak $34 from SLM to SEA. If I take BoltBus it is $25 (Amtrak then Boltbus). Seattle-Tacoma is finally getting their transportation issues together. Give it another 5 years for local transport to be acceptable and another 10 to connect PDX-SEA to faster rails.

I'm am more familiar w/ the Inland NW but have friends who have relatives they visit regularly who live and enjoy Gig Harbor, Bellevue/Kirkland, and Edmonds. The traffic is horrible in Seattle and I've heard Tacoma has a big gang problem. May be wise to rent for a year or two and really explore different areas before you buy. JMO.
We are in process of selling our home and moving to Pacific Northwest. Talked about it a long time, finally doing it.
House listed, took offer, now in 17 day inspection period. From the way I understand this process here, you can put a deposit down, get inspections and then change your mind with no loss to deposit. For any reason. Stems back to some lawsuit in 2010.
Wondering if buyer is trying to exercise that option with us now. Or if it will close escrow. Makes the moving and finding new housing very precarious.
