Don't feel alone here. I'm heading over to visit my mother and father-in-law (the remaining ones) next week. My mom's crazy enough it'll be hard to notice if she slips but my FIL has declined, in a severe sense, over the last half-year.
You do what you can, live with the things you haven't any control over.
My attentions are elsewhere. My parents are not doing well. Tsunami possibility on the coast. Earthquate under St Helen. Stock market volitility-Retirement issues. Health problems.
Keep your loved ones close, keep your mouths shut, and make the best lives for yourselves and your families you can, cuz there is no end to Obamamerica in sight.
Generally good advice anytime but definitely right on the money these days.
Put a "R" behind his name and this would be the biggest news story for 2013. It would be the main and only news story being discussed throughout all the media, a non-stop blasting of the duplicitous nature and hypocritical nature of those that dare to be called Republicans.
Keep your loved ones close, keep your mouths shut, and make the best lives for yourselves and your families you can, cuz there is no end to Obamamerica in sight.
You gotta stay on task here, lp, because the R word has nothing to do with the problems of Sen. Menendez. That is, other than the double standard issue which you're welcome to take a swing at.
For the record, here's one of his problems, sans the IRS cheat good buddy dentist (oops, opthalmologist - still hard to believe) with a plane:
Yes, scandal No. 1 involves 18-year-old Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavaleta—an illegal Peruvian immigrant, registered sex offender, and former unpaid intern for Menendez’s 2012 Senate reelection campaign. Sanchez was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on December 6, 2012, but the Associated Press reported that ICE had planned to arrest him back on October 25 but was asked by the Department of Homeland Security to hold off till after the election. A DHS spokesman dismissed the report as “categorically false,” and Menendez’s office denied knowing anything about DHS’s alleged interference or the intern’s legal status.
Along with that "catergorically false" claim they squatted on it until after the election, you'll also notice his "registered" sex offender intern isn't a Republican.
And while we'll be able to call Menendez a sex offender if he gets tagge for doing underage Dominican girls, we still won't be able to call him a Republican.

Well, he might very well be but the extenuating circumstances, proven by the snails pace reaction to some pretty disgusting charges, might make that just an inconvenience. Something to be shushed, swept under the rug, lived with... take your pick.
He's minority status, Hispanic, but Cuban which would normally be a negative but for the fact he's a democrat. Entirely different litmus tests as to suitability may be applied here, not the least of which might be what his being shoved out the door would do to the Great Agenda.
It's hard not to believe a politician when they're doing their best earnest and emphatic but, on the other hand, there's the adage about "when his lips are moving".
Good lord, what would they have done with any allegations of an old white conservative doing donor junkets to a foreign country so he'd be able to indulge in doing underage prostitutes? Texting house pages with pillow talk and wide stances in airport mens rooms wouldn't even have begun to compare.
