I read that the average family making under $100,000 will get about $1650 in new taxes.

I already got my check on the 3rd. Not a huge dip, but when you make as little as I do, every little bit counts.

Quite a few threads went poof overnight.

Now Im going to have to look for the pay stub( its auto deposit), i thought it was less because of less overtime, but maybe not!

We got first pay stub of year. A significant increase was there - just like all of the newspapers said. It was pretty discouraging, even though I knew how much it would amount to.

Personally, I hadnt noticed that our paychecks are any different.
Hadnt read the thread beyond a few posts, DadIIs oblique statements to get sympathy for how little he makes while spending enormous amounts on housing, photography equipment & vacations are wearying not humorous.
I do agree that a few (one?) of the mods are closing threads & administering sanctions extremely unevenly, I doubt that it is politically motivated however.

Background: Last night someone started a thread “OUCH!!!  First pay check of 2013” in the Parent Cafe forum of College Confidential. The thread’s posts were mainly about the end of the 2% SS-Tax Holiday. Someone posted it was scary how the promise to just tax the rich became a tax on everyone who receives a paycheck. Before I went to bed (11pm PST) I posted –

What I find scary is the requirement that the employee’s W-2 will now identify how much the employer and the employee contributed to the employer-sponsored group health plan.  Of course they are claiming this requirement is just for information purposes not for future taxes.  If it is just the information the Feds seek why not have businesses just report the amount in the aggregate why are they forced to break it down and report it specifically for each employee?

I really didn’t think what I said was political - but when I got on CC this morning the thread had totally disappeared.

I am now convinced of 2 things: 1- At least one of CC’s moderators is connected to the Obama administration. 2- With Obamacare employees WILL be paying taxes on the all or part of their employer-sponsored group health plan.

DadII apparently is in that group of tax payers filing jointly & making over $250,000, as there is an additional (0.9) Medicare tax for high income. http://www.irs.gov/uac/Affordable-Care-Act-Tax-Provisions
