Oh, I'm sure they are, SLS. But I'm assuming either the writer of the speech screwed up what he was to read on the teleprompter....and I'm sure he reads it word for word. Or he was talking off the cuff and just misspoke. Nothing more devious, and as a history ignoramus, I could have read that without blinking an eye. Obviously NOBODY thinks that the Poles were running the death camps, so I don't see poor intention in that. As a word mangler myself, I don't make a big deal when people accidentally mangle words or phrases. I suspect the Poles do not consider President Obama a friend, so they would certainly jump to conclusions on what he really meant. Bush, I don't think they would have held it against him.

Tell that to the Poles.  They are infuriated by this.

I think it was an honest mistake. If I hadn't heard the fuss about it, I wouldn't have really thought much about it. I'd assume it meant a Nazi death camp full of Polish people. There are many things to be annoyed with the President about, don't think this is one of them.

None of the above.  An accidental telling spilling of his honest opinion.  He may be dumb as a board and about as tone deaf, but past behavior shows that Mr. Obama hates him some Poles.

White House official says Obama ‘misspoke’ of Polish death camp

President Barack Obama "misspoke"  when he called a Nazi facility used to process Jews for execution as a "Polish death camp," a White House official told the news agency AFP.

The verbal gaffe came as the president was honoring to a famous Pole, Jan Karski, posthumously awarding him a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian award.

Karski, was a resistance fighter who sneaked behind enemy lines to witness the atrocities being committed against Jews. Obama referred to him being smuggled "into the Warsaw ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself," ABC OTUS News reported.

National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor, told AFP that the president "misspoke."

"He was referring to Nazi death camps in Poland," Vietor said in the article. "We regret this misstatement, which should not detract from the clear intention to honor Mr. Karski and those brave citizens who stood on the side of human dignity in the face of tyranny."

ABC News adds Vietor said in a statement, "The President has demonstrated in word and deed his rock-solid commitment to our close alliance with Poland."

Obama's remarks are already being called 'scandalous' by media outlets in Poland, Alex Storozynski, the President of the New York City-based Polish American Kosciuszko Foundation told ABC News. "Obama was seen reading this phrase off a teleprompter. The President must acknowledge his mistake and apologize for it. He must do it for Karski and the other Poles that risked their lives trying to stop the Holocaust," Storozynski said.
