Actually, since it is that clip we are supposedly discussing, people are free (shocker) to have their own interpretation. Imagine that. Please, please do report us to the authorities. And you accuse us of being "stormfront types." As far as I know, there is no right wing DATA BASE designed for the sole purpose of calling out supposed "smears" on any Republican leaders. Start digging.
My particular interpretation as to Michelle's demeanor during that clip is that she looks rather pinched and disdainful about something. It's pretty clear she uttered the word "flag." What do you think she said? Enlighten me. It is not open to interpretation that she shook her head. Also not up for interpretation (in most circles) is that is was disrepectful of her to whisper anything to the President during the ceremony.
My interpretation also was that the President looked as though he was humoring her...and probably wish she had shut up.
My interpretation also is that she should've, as usual, left the semi-formal at home for this occasion.

Every time I get into a discussion about whether many of the attacks on the Obamas are based on the color of their skin, I usually don't have to wait too long for a story to prove me right. This story was whipped up by a bunch of Stormfront types.

Well, for some of the commentators on the websites that carried this "appears to be" POS story, race is most definitely a factor. Unless there's some other interpretation for slurs like "apes" and "wookie." If there is, do tell.
And so Michelle Obama is deemed by you (I don't agree btw) to be less worthy of respect than Laura Bush ---- gee, what a shock. This comes as no surprise considering your embrace of the kind of lies/distortions created and spread by websites devoted to attacking anything associated with Obama.
Ha ha. My "frenzy" had nothing on your frothing at the mouth. Trust me.
Michelle O does not command the kind of respect that, for instance, Laura Bush did, or many (most!) other first ladies. There are reasons for that. They do not have to do with race. Keep frothing.
The link shows another example of shameless over-the-top lie mongering by the rightwing blogosphere about the Obamas.
The FL "appears" to be saying something dispicably derogatory about a solemn flag-folding ceremony on national television and of course, the lemmings jump on the internet to spread it around and whip up the hate machine. It's the same vicious baseless type attack that occurred during the 2008 campaign when the rightwingers circulated the lie that MO had spoken disparagingly of "whitey" in some never-produced videotape. That is, there was no tape and it never happened. But so what, spread the lies and rumors anyway.
That people swallow this spoonfed nonsense and work themselves into a frenzy over it is sad and disheartening ---- the commentary on some of those websites pushing this "appears to be saying" BS is sickening. And yeah, some of it is racist.
You could just as easily suggest that the FL leans over and makes a simple observation to her husband that '"they're being awfully careful with that flag" --- watch the youtube with that in mind and see if doesn't come closer than "all this for a flag." She does not roll her eyes or smirk with disdain. The shake of her head is more a what-a-shame gesture, her own personal response to what she's watching, a commemeration of the tragic loss of life on 9-11. And so her husband nods his head in agreement.
Hot in their kilts? How did you come up with that?
Actually, I looked into a bit more too. I haven't been able to find a more qualified source regarding the lipreading. I could have jumped to conclusions. When I thought about it, I decided she could have been remarking that the people involved must have been hot in their kilts or something like that, and that is why she shook her head.
Unfortunately, she shouldn't have been speaking at all during the ceremony. That alone was disrespectful.
All I can clearly make out is "flag". I was deaf for part of my childhood and I'm fairly good at reading lips. I haven't seen any lip reading experts analyze this- has anyone seen any analysis? I mean you can't even see her lips during part of it.
It's disgusting if that's what she did say. But I'm not entirely positive that it is.
