What woke them up when it came to President Obama?
Maybe the assumption it's all about Obama skin color is simply wrong?
As much as he tried to appear disconnected to those early successes of that solidly democrat congress, maybe he didn't appear nearly as aloof as he wished he had.
Pelosi, Reid, and all their ancillaries, they're about as reviled by the tea party as Obama is.

Maybe I'm way out there..but I don't believe those polls putting Obama one point behind Perry or Romney. I really think that unless the Rs really mess up big-time they will win.I would much prefer Romney to Perry, but, you know, I think either will win. No President in history has won with an approval rating this low this close to an election IN ADDITION TO the kinds of employment and economy numbers we are experiencing.
Oh, Tapper has stellar liberal credentials or he wouldn't be a sub for the weekend shows. He'll only go so far in criticizing Obama. But he has a touch of integrity so totally lacking in other "journalists" that it makes him stand out (sad state of affairs).

I am with busdriver. I actually hoped when they had control of everything we would see change.
Silly me the rabbit, TRICKS really are not for kids, but politicians too.
I stopped watching Chris Matthews a long time ago (tingle up my leg), but because I was making dinner and the TV was on I listened to him as I cooked. Thank God I wasn't holding a pot of boiling water because I would have dropped it when he stated:
Obama has a 37% approval rating on handling the economy...I wonder who these people are? When Matthews can no longer support the guy on air who gave him that tingle, you know it is bad for Obama.
When Mitt Romney is only 1 pt behind Obama in polls, you begin to realize why he expects to spend a Billion dollars on his campaign.
I am surprised Jake Tapper is still with ABC since he is def. not an Obama supporter.

"The Tea Partiers lived in ignorant bliss while Reagan touted the earned income credit while spending a record percentage of the GDP. Clinton came in with health care reform as a number 1 agenda. Bush created the huge Medicare Part D entitlement. President Obama came in with a more conservative version of Clinton's health care plan. What woke them up when it came to President Obama? I think a huge part of it was racism."
You see, if you don't understand your opponents, you will never be able to fight them effectively. You can put your fingers in your ears, and just keep crying, "racists" but you can't make it stick, because it purely is not true.
Have you ignored everything that has happened? Were you busy working and not watching the news when people woke up? Have you really forgotten? Do you think people just realized, "Oh my God, we're going to have a black president," and then the outcry started because of that?
Let me refresh your memory. We were immersed in a couple of wars, disgusted with just about everything, going through our busy lives, taking care of business. And one day President Bush told us that we needed to pass TARP, the situation was dire. Banks started failing, major businesses and insurance companies went out of business, the market went insane, and people lost half of their investments in the blink of an eye. People lost jobs, were terrified of losing jobs, were afraid they'd lose everything they'd saved. Fear was everywhere.
President Obama passed a massive stimulus, saying it was going to save us. And we hoped it would, but upon looking at it, it was mostly a grab bag of giveaways to certain constituencies and Democrat wish list desires. All the crap about transparency went out the window, there were bribes inserted, same old politics as usual. Then he did a government takeover of some of the auto companies, all quickly followed by a speech about, "from now on, we're going to be fiscally responsible!" And then the huge giveaways to the insurance companies and the massive debt from the health care bill, and more troops to Afghanistan, and overwhelming debt, debt, and more debt....and so it goes.
Yep, people weren't paying much attention when Bush was in office, but every time he did something with the blessing of the Democrats, it cost money. People were mildly disgruntled and annoyed, but there was so much else to be concerned with. And then when the country seemed like it was all falling apart in a few weeks time, we WOKE UP! And what started as a low rumbling, turned into a roar. And the roar wasn't, "Gee, we've decided we don't want that black guy we voted in office anymore," it was, "What the hell are you people doing?"
I actually did have hope that having the Dems in office, things were going to change for the better. Maybe they were going to fix some badly needed problems, maybe they really were that smart. Then I realized they were the same idiotic power hungry morons they all are.
They all have some kind of baggage, but not radical baggage. Didn't want to use the word--but there it is.
Oh yeah, Hillary wrote her senior thesis on Allinsky. They tried to paint her as a radical, and maybe she had sympathies at one time. However, the press was a bit more ethical in those days--they dared to question the behind-closed-doors nature of Hillary's healthcare reform. Bill learned his lesson and "triangulated" to win a second term. Dare I say Hillary learned her lesson too.
Obama? Wet behind the ears. Knew enough to vote "present" but threw Wright and Ayers under the bus a little too late.
But ho-hum. Obama is a has-been. All the charges of racism in the world won't change that.
They all have cronies. They all have "baggage." They didn't have black preacher baggage - true.

I think that the tea party formed because many people perceived Obama and his cronies as carrying a hidden far-left agenda to turn America into a European type socialist nation. Witness the stealth maneuvers in getting Obamacare passed. Personally, I don't find these fears unfounded, based on many of Obama's own writings and statements and actions, his affiliation with Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, etc. It's a handy (and nasty) excuse to say their discontent with Obama is based in racism, but I think they would most definitely have the same concerns if he were white. I mean, certainly Bush, Clinton and other presidents did not come with the same baggage.
In addition, the man was elected president after all. There are lots of things I have come to dislike about the Democratic party, but their phony cries of racism at the drop of a hat make them complete scoundrels imo, pretty much the lowest of the low.
I think if the Tea Party were not grounded in racism and cared only about the points listed on the website , they would have organized under Reagan, Clinton and the Bushes. I do not believe all Tea Partiers are racist, but I believe the organizers, who were anything but grass roots, used racism (both anti-black and anti-muslim) to coalesce the movement. With regard to Cain, he is a racist himself and could do more to further a racist agenda than any white person could.
<They brought up the fact that Obama had asked for the rhetoric to be toned down, but here is at a rally allowing it right in front of him.>
Shocked, shocked, I tell you. I continue to be amazed that there are still people who supposedly "like Obama personally" according to the polls. Is that for real, or are they just covering for themselves--afraid to be labeled "racist?" IMO he's a nasty, nasty man. It is fascinating to listent to his speeches because he projects every single thug tactic he has used or is capable of using onto Republicans.
As for all those barbarian, sob, go to hell comments etc. etc. -- hold your breath for any Democrat to denounce them, while simultaneously making things up about the tea party.
I am not a member of any Tea Party organization, but I do not believe that to them this is a race issue. Bringing that into the conversation is more about your perception of them, than what they are about regarding their goals.
If all you can use is that as what is wrong with the Tea Party, than wouldn't you agree you have no argument from a defense POV with what is wrong with the Tea Party?
You could have argued any of these points [quote=CelticClan07]• Limited federal government • Individual freedoms • Personal responsibility • Free markets • Returning political power to the states and the people
You didn't, you brought race into it.
Herman Cain is black, and supports the Tea Party, supported by Tea party members doesn't that fly in your face your comment?
Heck, do you think the founding fathers intended for a woman president, but they love Palin and Bachman.

Thanks for the morning laugh. The main thing the Tea Party has in common with the founding fathers is that the founding fathers wouldn't have supported a black president either.
Just saw that Biden also amped up the rhetoric yesterday with his Barbarian comment.
Biden At AFL-CIO Rally: "You Are The Only Folks Keeping The Barbarians From the Gates"
I am a Barbarian because I am not a union member? They are the only non- governmental power? So according to him, I have no power as a constituent? My vote doesn't matter? -- Edited by pima on Tuesday 6th of September 2011 09:01:45 AM

I was shocked this morning to see Morning Joe speak negative about this rally. They brought up the fact that Obama had asked for the rhetoric to be toned down, but here is at a rally allowing it right in front of him.

Clearly Cartera you have absolutely no idea what the Tea Party movement is about. Either does Hoffa, who btw IMO is a thug. Or you're just playing dumb to liven things up. Or maybe you don't believe in the Constitution and are really in love with the federal Nanny state.
The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:
• Limited federal government • Individual freedoms • Personal responsibility • Free markets • Returning political power to the states and the people
As a movement, The Tea Party is not a political party nor is looking to form a third political party any time soon. The Tea Party movement, is instead, about reforming all political parties and government so that the core principles of our Founding Fathers become, once again, the foundation upon which America stands.
Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa had some profane, combative words for Republicans while warming up the crowd for President Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Monday.
"We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They've got a war, they got a war with us and there's only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We're going to win that war," Jimmy Hoffa Jr. said to a heavily union crowd.
"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.
