Razorsharp, that's nonsense. Being thankful because "X" event happened isn't inherently political, simply because the event happened because of a legislative vote. It would only have become "political" if someone had started to talk about politics, ir had started a fight. And I thought that at least one moderator actually posted on it.
What a disgrace. I'm so furious. I might as well just have posted something like "screw you, bigots; I'm so glad to see you lose, and not be able to do *anything* about it, no matter how many fits you throw, because New York isn't California, and understands what a "republic" is, and it won't be possible to get a referendum on the ballot." Now, *that* would have been a political thread!
Maybe I should start reporting every post that discusses or celebrates an opposite-sex marriage. If one kind of discussion is political, than so is the other, by negative implication.
Whoever made this decision should be ashamed of him or herself.

They deleted it because it was clearly political. How do I know this? When someone specifically says this thread is not political you can bet it is political.
Let's do some analysis. A political vote was had on a political issue and DonnaL created a thread to thank those who supported her political view. If it walks like a political duck, quacks like a political duck, then maybe it is a political duck (or maybe a happily married gay duck).
Was it because Donna was the one who started it? It was a perfectly civil thread. In fact, most people were celebratory over the fact that New York has passed a gay marriage rights law. There are active threads in the cafe that are much more contentious and and potentially politically fraught than the Thank You New York thread. I just tried to post a question, and received a "you do not have permission to post on this page" notice. That was when I noticed that the thread itself has disappeared in a puff of smoke. I don't get it. I just don't get it....
