Don't really care if someone assumes Longprime, longprime, or any other of my previous CC avatars. Anyone can make a new fool of themselves or they make the avatars better, either way the old avatars win.
If you been reading some of my replies the last few days, you've would have noticed some hints.
Itstoomuch, found this forum in a idle time when DS was 3rd termer, fall of 2003. DS moved on to grad school and, Thisoldman, took up the fun. As son moved to post school internships and to a university job, Longprime was incarnated. But all things end, DS is ending his time in the academic world, and I have promised myself that when academic life ends, I die. DS has completed his project that he was working on since 2003, first as a gofer for his ug advisor and then as a staff assistant after his graduate school and internships to same.. This was an opportunity that he only stumbled upon and it just happened to develop well. I think he is done with this PI-project, at least for a few years until he's called upon to do more, he's the expert. He has given his notice to the PI and Udub, and will be visiting with us for a couple of days.
He is moving on towards this first goal of human-computer design . We are thankful that this PI brought him him close to home in the PNW where he has been able to enjoy the city and outdoor life. He soon found a shared house and doing things that he never did, like doing the dishes, housekeeping, and gardening. The last couple of years, he has been able to develop some interesting hobbies, too; Which I think can be commercialize (but what do I know). He has developed this hobby into a great portfolio and hopefully a new position in the next couple of weeks. We saw the wheels turn in this head, but we never imagine the stuff that he's been years in ponderings.
I have just one advice to past, present, and future CC'ers- Fire is better than being cold, and even fire will becomes obsolete. If you insist in the old ways and thinking, perish.
Finally, for those who have daughters, With a little search, you can find me near by. ;)
I haven't looked on CC threads, except the colleges my kids are on because of my personal paranoia. I feel like it is like McCarthy's era and they took names and created a watch list.

Yeah, they seem set on being hyper-vigilant about the no politics thing. I for one don't think the thread became particularly political. It was really about the law and the constitution as it concerns the meaning of "natural born citizen." People weren't even being argumentative. It was a mature, and interesting discussion. Some of the best discussions of that sort did take place in the old political forum, however. Now CC is not nearly as intellectually stimulating. I really miss level of intellectual discourse inherent in the old forum. There really hasn't arisen a satisfactory substitute so far, dispite the availability of this forum. There's not yet a critical mass of diverse participants to facilitate it here, unfortunately.
