When the time is ripe, they will dump it, thereby destroying the dollar.
Attributing the same motives to a soverign entity as to an individual or private business is an error in judgement. China is not playing the same game as the US.
I am definitely sure that I am not happy to see my assets decline to 1998 levels. Not even accounting for inflation or lost interest if I had placed my bets on EE's or bank CD's or opportunity cost if I had invested in commodities.
China probably has a lot of USA debt. But I'd guess that they are not happy to see their holdings in US paper and US denominated products decrease by eW's ignorance and US follies. China hold US bonds but can't sell them other than to get out of a bad thing. Just think, USA has China to thank for financing our McMansions and McWars. What's good for Mac is good for you.
What worries you have. My worry is a son, newphews and neices who aren't hooked up.
