In answer to your first question, probably "yes," unfortunately. Everything is justified by economics - "its the market stupid." Markets are not free and never have been. Policy designed to help the U.S. workers and buy American campaigns would seem like a good idea even if prices rise for some things. No policy is perfect and every scheme will have some flaws and unintended consequences, but consequences of what we are doing now seem dire.
So how does a "corporate entity" "own" anything in a communist country?
Pfizer is "giving away the store".
Once the drug is developed and tested, the only thing keeping any competent organic chemist from copying and selling it are "intellectual property" laws.
What does China ignore and have none of its own?
