It was a nice summer.

Today I noticed the maintenance folks at our temporary housing put on outdoor faucet covers. Seems ominous.

I think SLS has been fortunate enough to mostly experience the endless summer that we had. Less drizzle than usual.

Ebola, Shmebola.

It is George Bush's fault. Obviously.

I am fascinated to see the response to this disease. It is seriously dangerous in Africa. will it ever be as big a threat here? Hope not. One concern I have is that most hospitals simply seem not equipped to deal with any major outbreak. We have fluid borders in the US, which is an issue. the disease takes a while to incubate. Could get scary.

I am far more concerned with silly things like bacterial meningitis. This has killed more people in the US last week than Ebola - two young healthy people in prime of their lives and seems to strike college campuses most frequently. There is a vaccine that is legal in Canada and much of Europe. It is called Bexero. The vaccine for most normal strains Meningitis is approved by FDA. Why not fast track this vaccine? Not cool enough to make headline news. Yet, disease kills or maims within days of contracting. Can you imagine?

Apparently my company is getting involved in transporting related Ebola stuff around. We're trying to figure out who will end up flying it. Will it be people getting paid hazard pay, volunteer (150%) pay? Nope. It will be like the young nurses who treated the Ebola patients in Dallas. The junior people, doing it on reserve, for per diem only. Sure hope it never goes airborne.

I have listened to what this countries leadership has said, and have concluded that the priority is not protecting Americans. They do want to fight the disease, but keeping Americans safe is not at the top of the list. We are, as you know, citizens of the world. No more or less important than anyone else. And that attitude from the people whose #1 job responsibility is to protect us....is scary.

What are you talking about longprime? PBO already told us there's nothing to worry about. You don't believe him?

I am close to opinion that PBO should declare Ebola-USA, as self-inflicted bioterrorism and Congress should prohibit the enforcement of  Ebola "terrorism"  clause. Our Congress is in its final weeks of campaigning and doesn't want to add new controversy prior to election day, unless it has too. DEC is limited by Law in its mandate.  State government does not want to be the bogey man. Local medical has been proven incompetent. How can we so stupid to allow medical personel exposed to Ebola travel, travel extensively in confined spaces without knowledge and tracking.

Our transportation and food delivery networks are so highly developed, where a communicable disease with such a long incubation time,  can potentially badly hurt USA. PBO should start building quarantine stations and isolation areas. A national debate should be started now and concluded quickly.noevileye
