I've discovered, when it comes to Money, everything then becomes political.
I read what is left of that thread. Personally, I think this family probably knew what what they were doing. I our time, we borrowed 80%+ of COA with the remainder 20% paid by small scholarship and institutional grant. We borrowed in the first year PLUS $28,000, unSubStafford $2850, but our cost was 130/mn which was manageable . At the end, the monthly payments was about $500 combined. There are so many unspoken factors in finances that I personally think, If it works, It Works.
[We eventually borrowed ~ $112K in the PLUS and ~$22,000 in the Stafford]
[But at graduation we, was maybe half]
When it comes to numbers, I pretty much ignore without supporting data.
I don't read enough to notice, but I saw a comment on the $500k thread linking to "Official Thread to Report Problems or Make Comments to New CC site" --near the end of it, it discusses the apparent mayhem. :)
Also mentions rogue offshoots daring to discuss politics. :)
