Watching CNN. A blurb about WMT wanting to spend $50billion over 10 years to "buy American". They got 300 consumer good manufactures together and asked them to produce domestically.
The only thing I buy there is diapers and then rarely. Too much hassle to buy just one item and then wait in line to save a quarter.
So, IMO, WMT forced many manufacturers offshore rather to pay a fair price for domestically produced goods. Now WMT is discovering that selling lower price points gets you lower profits, and no potential domestic manufactures willing to risk capital, Where I can, I will spend the extra $ to buy American and give service people a liveable wage.
