One of the more bizarre statements I have seen.

At my S's former college, they hired rappers with misogynistic lyrics, gratuitous violence, and overall filthy language for their spring events several,years in a row now .Some students (mostly young women) complained. In a very liberal university, these complaints fell on deaf ears, because it was regarded as quasi-racist-- criticizing a "different" culture. It has to do with "diversity" you see.

Not only is this view tragic, but it's disgusting. When you defend garbage Being fed to children, and call out those as racist who are disgusted by it, what does that make you.

The Wall Street Journal was brave enough to say it in their editorial:

The murder is a national story in Australia, where people are contemplating the horror of such casual killing in America. Some are focusing on the ease of obtaining a gun in the U.S., as (inevitably) is the reflexive CNN, and it would almost be a relief if we could blame such a murder on guns.

Then we wouldn't have to focus on a culture that produces teenagers for whom the prospect of shooting an innocent man in the back on a Friday evening apparently raised not a scintilla of conscience. That is the deeper tragedy, and the real scandal, of too much of American life.

That is also an issue of far greater consequence to the future of young black men than the acquittal of George Zimmerman in his awful showdown with Trayvon. If only Mr. Sharpton and his fellow black leaders paid attention to what was missing in the lives of those three teenagers. Maybe President Obama would even care to use it as one of his teachable moments.

Now that's really nifty, the way the Kos did a preemptive nullification of any comparison of this black/white tragedy with the last one.

That "conversation on race" is beginning to look like it'll never happen, at least if it's going to be anything other than one with a predictable conclusion.

Problem is we need gun control, kids had difficult lives, not racially motivated, they are "good kids." And they were bored.

If I had a third son, he might look like Chris Lane.

Just so we're clear, it's racist to mention this, btw. From the Daily Kos:

Horrific story from Oklahoma about three teenagers who shot and killed an Australian who was here in the U.S. on a baseball scholarship.

Christopher Lane, who's from Australia, was gunned down in Duncan, Oklahoma, while he was out jogging last week. The motive, police say? Three teens who had nothing better to do.
"They witnessed a young man run by on the street. Chose him as the target," Police Chief Danny Ford told CNN affiliate KSWO.
When police eventually arrested the three teens -- ages 15, 16 and 17 -- one of them offered up a motive that made clear that Lane, who attended East Central University on a baseball scholarship, was chosen at random.
"He said the motive was, 'We were going to kill somebody,'" Ford told Australian radio station 3AW. This may get uglier. Much uglier.

CNN and other U.S. media outlets won't mention it because the three suspected killers are under 18, but Australian news reports have identified them. And here's where it can get a LOT uglier.

The three teenagers are black, and the victim was white. And given the reaction we've seen from right-wingers to the response to the George Zimmerman trial, and then President Obama's impromptu press conference about race in America, there's a good chance they're going to jump on this story to justify every single damn racist bone in their body.
