McCain had a role-He kept the Wars honest. He kept the Republicans from getting to weird in Earmarks (Ron Paul, in all his years took 0 earmarks and voted No on most of the appropriations). McCain was sacrificial in 2008, and thereby saved the Republican Party.
Tying it around their necks, I think, just so there's no break in the lifestyle we've all become accustomed to. The one we can't afford anymore, as the fact that we're borrowing to sustain it elegantly points out.
The lesson for the prudent ladies might be this: have lots of kids, so they can both share the pain and commiserate about it. Failing that, go all in on the general adoption that's being pushed so hard.
Legalizing a bunch of already grown ones, ones that lack only papers.
