CHUCK TODD: Speaking of the blame game, another example of how the sequester fight has been reduced to rhetoric and posturing. The central argument over the weekend was over what a political reporter, The Washington Post's Bob Woodward, wrote on Friday night. Woodward, who wrote a book about the 2011 debt ceiling standoff, argued in an op-ed that the sequester was the White House's idea…
So if you're in charge of Speaker Boehner's or Senator McConnell's press shop, Woodward is a storyline you couldn't of crafted better yourself right now. Republicans this weekend were almost giddy over the giant gift they were handed in Woodward...
Woodward became the spokesperson for the Republicans over the weekend. (Daily Rundown, February 25, 2013)
If you're admitting they look at Obama's boat as their boat too, you've absolutely got it, longprime. And by 'they', I mean all the respectable news outlets, not just Politico. With their man reelected, they can let a little water slosh over the side -- they'll be back bailing for him long before there's any real threat to his loafers.
Whatever the motivation, the fact remains that it dares critique our leader, pulls no punches, and every word is spot-on--rather amazing in and of itself!
Of course, our liberal friends, were they still deigning to post here, would most likely argue (as they have done) that Politico is a right-of-center outfit.

If I read Cat's comment; - if your boat isn't taking on water, don't rock it. OR The Other boat isn't bailing or plugging the leaks but they are still rowing a ever heavier boat- They only know how to do just one task at the time.
Too cynical for words these days but... that could all be summed up an excuse for not doing what they would normally be doing, which is constantly mocking the messaging attempts as blatant, crass, Nixonian, etc. Mostly just doing the sort of thing they're extremely good at when they've got a horse they need to handicap.
Being that isn't the case here, they do this soap-in-the-sock beatdown when his approval numbers are up. (Think not beating up on your wife when the marks might keep her from bringing home the bacon.)
