Apparently this driver was the sole driver in this tour. This tour had many day time excursions with night driving to destinations.

I haven't read blog. Is it suggesting that keeping track of hours logged in by pilots, bus drivers or long haul truckers are interfering regulation? Or maybe it is about something else entirely. Link the article if you would like. I actually do think that regulating hours for people operating heavy machinery like planes, trains, trucks is a good idea. Sleep is necessary.

Sounds like the company has been in trouble before & the driver worked 92 hours in the week preceding the crash, which is illegal. http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2013/01/tour-company-in-fatal-oregon-bus-crash-ordered-to-cease-u-s-operations/

There is one button that turns it on.

I too havent been on that section for 30 yrs. If I remember, it is an incline of many miles with turn outs and runoffs, and water for overheated engines.

Occurred on I-84, Blue Mountain Pass. Bus load of So. Koreans. 9 dead. Icy Road.disbelief

The weather even 200 miles west, at the coast was treacherous. A light drizzle occurred the previous night, which then froze when the weather cleared. It was a beautiful night, stars, full moon. Doesn't freeze often because of the proximity to the ocean. I saw 2 accidents, even at 10am and air temp upto 37. I had to delay my return to the Valley till 2pm because of the high likely hood of black ice over the coast range.
