I watched our local news, not the national channels, because I am in VA. At 9 p.m. they were showing lines in PW county still had 100's of people. The last person voted @10:30 p.m. The avg wait was 4 hrs. Rosslyn was reporting 2 1/2 hrs. Gainesville had a 2-3 hr wait.
What shocks me today is that they said this yr 14 million less voted, and in our area with those wait times, the only thing I can think is that number is coming from NJ/NY/CT areas where they were hard hit by the storm, but still that won't equal 14 million, so my other guess is that the youth vote didn't want to wait in lines.
Off topic, but I rarely listen to Rush and he made me LMAO yesterday. He said maybe we should redistrict the country like we do with Congressional districts. Make the USA like Dominican Republic and Haiti, East and West Germany, live on one side of the line you follow the R's, live on the other side and you follow the D's. This would allow all of us to see which works better in the long run as real life experience. How long do you think it will take Bill Maher, Michael Moore, Buffet, and that ilk to decide they would move to the R's side?
I would give it a yr or so, when they realize the share their wealth is not what they really believe in so others can have free BC pills, especially when the PP CEO's are making 6 figures for a NPF organization. They might also feel differently because 70% of the military votes R, so as they all scream that the DoD budget is insane, don't worry, they can live with the slashed budget, and the slashed personnel size. The R's of course can't beeaach about abortion or NPR, PP being changed, along with welfare.
It really would be interesting to see what it would look like if we did that today, and what the population would look like on each side 2yrs and 4 yrs from now. If we use other countries as an example, I think what we would see by yr 4 is something like we saw when the wall came down in Germany. What we have seen in Haiti and Dominican Republic each time a hurricane hit.

Spending money does spur economic growth. Printing money does not. Any suggestion by Pres Obama that the spending will stop? Taking more money from the rich simply doesn't add up to ay those bills.
Hope your President* learns some lessons this time around. Hope your kid doesn't have to move home and live out their 20's in your basement. I don't have a basement, but I do have 2 twenty something's with college degrees living in my home. One of them owes the government a lot of money.
My guess is my kid pays off his debt to the Feds faster than we do to China.
*I claimed him as my President the first go round. Not this time. When half the country, literally, votes for the other guy, I am not taking responsibility for what he does from here on out.
Saving your $$$$ is the problem that we have-Spending your money will get people hired. Remember what Fearless Leader W said in 2002- "Go to the mall and SPEND !... It's also OK to Borrow"
The whole premise of MR's campaign is to reduce taxes so that "you" will have more money to spend.
The problem-Is that the consumer portions of our Nation, have no money to either to save or to spend, And those who do save, spend $$ by Investing rather than Not spending to save. Got-it?
On my first two visits at 8:30 and 11:00 the line was about 90 minutes. Third time was the charm. Had only three people in front of me at 3:00. In-out. Easy peasey.
Electronic touch screen. Perfect for transmitting germs to as many people as possible.
is it ok that the box for R said McCain and the D was Obama?

I went after work... left the car at 4:30, passed someone I knew who was leaving so I chatted for a couple minutes, went and voted. Back to the car by 4:40. Signed in right away and had to wait for 1 person in front of me on the electronic machines. Basically everyone at my office went in the morning and they were all talking about lines that were 1.5-2.5 hours.
