"Forty-six newspaper editorial boards that endorsed then-Senator Barack Obama in 2008 have decided instead to endorse Republican nominee Mitt Romney this year, according to a tally from the Republican National Committee."
When the major news outlets are not running with this story, well... That is how people are still supporting the President.
This was either gross incompetence or something worse.
Trust? How can you possibly trust Obama after hearing what happened to those four Americans in that embassy? As you say john doe, Obama has been a pathetic joke of a president, and for the life of me, I don't know how anyone can look at what is happening right now with Benghazi and still think that he is a better choice than Romney.
A lot of people think that Obama is a pathetic joke of a president like me but a lot of those people don't trust Romney like me - "better to stick with the devil you know than the one that you don't." I'm sure some know where he stands on issues besides: "we need jobs, I know how to create jobs". The only thing I can see that he stands for after listening to him during the Republican and presidential debates is that he's against abortion.
I think daily polls and news stories are basically just responding to the latest hot topic, whatever that may be. Hot topics come from the campaigns' talking points. Polls and the media show what the surface looks like on the election cake that's baking, but they don't do as good of a job of sensing what's going on in the center.
I think newspapers that traditionally lean left coming out in favor of Romney is a better indiciation of what's going on in the center.
I think dissatisfaction with Obama is a lot deeper than what the day-to-day polls and media depict.
I've seen it myself, anecdotally, while travelling. Sitting in airport waiting areas where the news is on the TV, watching the reactions of the people, talking with a few of them.
The country is not happy with the way things are. The general mood is one of discontent.
As a result of all this, I think the current polling shows Obama in better shape than he really is.
States that show are much more likely to break for Romney than for Obama.

How about the Des Moines Register! First endorsement of a republican for president since Richard Nixon v. George McGovern! They didn't even endorse Ronald Reagan versus Carter or Mondale. This one may tip Iowa. The midwest firewall for Obama may be crumbling.
It's actually a pretty cogent closing argument for Romney:
It was a shocker to me because Obama has spent so much time demonizing MR over the bail out of GM, I couldn't see a Detroit paper supporting MR over Obama. It is a great editorial. Here is just a small portion.
Thank Obama for auto rescue
Don't assume that it was a no-brainer for a conservative newspaper to endorse a conservative presidential candidate. We recognize and are grateful for the extraordinary contribution President Obama made to Michigan in leading the rescue of General Motors and Chrysler. Had either of those companies been allowed to go under, Michigan's economic maladies would have become fatal.
The president stepped up with the support the two automakers needed to keep themselves and their suppliers in business. We have said in past editorials that while Romney rightly advocated for structured bankruptcies in his infamous "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" New York Times op-ed, he was wrong in suggesting the automakers could have found operating capital in the private markets. In that article, Romney suggested government-backed loans to keep the companies afloat post bankruptcy. But what GM and Chrysler needed were bridge loans to get them through the process, and the private credit markets were unwilling to provide them. Obama put a rescue team to work and they were true to the task.
We have criticized Obama in past editorials for rewriting bankruptcy law on the fly to hold harmless his supporters in the United Auto Workers union. Still, Michigan is better off today because of Obama's leadership on this issue.
Had Obama done as well with the rest of the economy, it would be hard to deny him a second term.
But Obama said himself in a midterm television interview that if by the end of his first term the economy was still broken, he should not be re-elected. Well, the economy is still broken, and we have lost confidence in the president's ability to make the necessary repairs.
Despite his wrong-headedness on the auto bailout, we believe Romney when he proclaims himself a "car guy." And he is indeed a son of Detroit, having grown up in the automobile industry. His father, George Romney, was the head of American Motors before becoming governor of Michigan.
Romney understands the industry, and will shield it from regulators who never tire of churning out new layers of mandates. It is important to remember that the automobile industry is never truly "saved;" there are always new challenges. Romney will be an advocate for Detroit, and if he can make the overall economy stronger, Michigan and the automakers will benefit greatly.
