That particular video was something that girl child was absolutely charmed with during the college admissions process, actually.
My mom was born in a little suburb near Dearborn, and moved to California in the 50's. Her dad was chasing the defense contractor boom.
Honestly, until I visited last summer, I didn't realize the appeal. I mean, come on - it's freaking cold in winter! I lived in the midwest just long enough to not like weather extremes.
You Michiganders are hardy folk. ;) It gets a little cold here or rain sprinkles and we disintegrate.
On my dad's side, I'm fourth generation Michigander. Dad's paternal grandparents moved to Michigan from Ireland and we just kind of never left. I'm the first generation born outside of the actual city of Detroit. I legitimately love Michigan and hope that I never have to leave. We'll see though. It's a beautiful state and I'm a Michigander through and through. It's also why I spend way too much money on clothes through this place: http://downwithdetroit.spreadshirt.com
My home state doesn't always have a lot to celebrate, so when this came around, Michiganders were happy. I think it's absolutely adorable and awesome and I felt like sharing that awesomeness with the rest of you from around the country. Enjoy :D
