"2. Maybe I am cynical, or just old enough to know that unless the House and Senate work with the President chances are it will never happen. One of the problems Obama is facing now."
I agree with this. There is NO cooperation in the senate/house/presidency. There won't be with a split government and they just don't care. So much emphasis on the presidential race when the relative power he/she has is quite small. The whole system is broken, but I sincerely doubt the whole "vote the bums out" (on both sides) is going to fix anything. Too entrenched.
"If someone votes for Obama because they can't personally connect with Romney, than sorry you made your bed. You chose a President because you like him personally, this is not Live With Kelly, when it comes to liking whoever they hire as her co-host to replace Regis. "
I agree longprime it didn't promise much, but that really didn't bother me because of two reasons.
1. His COS when he was GOV. illustrated that they started with 44 campaign promises and on his 1st day they had a board stating those promises, and crossed them off one by one.
2. Maybe I am cynical, or just old enough to know that unless the House and Senate work with the President chances are it will never happen. One of the problems Obama is facing now.
I would rather be told the plan in broad strokes, which Mitt did than be given promises and smoke up my arse. I think the 12 million jobs is on that smoke side, but I also believe that small businesses which drive this country are not hiring because for yrs we have not settled the tax rate issue.
I do agree that he is wooden, but if he keeps hitting at the one question he said last night...are you better off now, he has a chance of winning. I can't in my wildest imagination see any of the 23 million unemployed, and the countless million under-employed pulling the lever for Obama.
I am waiting for an ad from the RNC.
Staples, Sports Authority and more specifically Bright Horizons, with Michelle Obama saying what a great organization and them showing that without Bain, she would never be able to compliment them at all. Thank you Mitt Romney from working Moms.
If someone votes for Obama because they can't personally connect with Romney, than sorry you made your bed. You chose a President because you like him personally, this is not Live With Kelly, when it comes to liking whoever they hire as her co-host to replace Regis.

I do not think RM should have mentioned his father being President of a great American car company. The American Automobile Co, made really bad cars. They did make two fairly OK vehicles both with Government money: Jeep (Willy's) and tanks, both were death traps if handled and positioned wrongly.
He delivered ! Some emotion (teared up at the start), some laughs (laughed out loud a few times) some memorable lines. Dems are shaking in their boots-guaranteed.
Nice speech. Soft. Didn't promise too much other than 12Million new jobs by 2020 (?) which is probably doable for anyone who had 8 years. (W failed in big net job gains even when he inheited a recession from Bill and 9/11). He tried to tell his and family's story and a story for all of us to have the same aspirations. Very glad MR did not attack PBO at the personal level. Foreign policy could be too forward and may not give confidence to those who have money to lose.
Touched all of the high and important points to invigorate the followers, especially those who are hesitant on his candidancy.
A his delivery was very good, on par with the best. He however still comes across a bit wooden-almost robotic and expressionless.
In his speech, Mr. Romney will say that "now is the time to restore the promise of America," vowing to deliver 12 million new jobs and unify a divided country.
"Many Americans have given up on this president but they haven't ever thought about giving up," Mr. Romney was expected to say, according to speech excerpts. "Not on themselves. Not on each other. And not on America."
What is needed now "is not complicated or profound," Mr. Romney planned to say. "What America needs is jobs. Lots of jobs."
Mr. Romney, a former private-equity firm executive who also helped turn around a struggling Olympic Games, was expected to lay out a five-step program for achieving his goal of adding 12 million jobs.
First, Mr. Romney was expected to say that by 2020, North America will be energy independent by taking full advantage of its oil and coal, gas, nuclear and renewable energy sources.
Second, he plans to promise to "give our fellow citizens the skills they need for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow."
Third, he says, he will make trade policy work for America by forging new trade agreements.
Fourth, "to assure every entrepreneur and every job creator that their investments in America will not vanish as have those in Greece, we will cut the deficit and put America on track to a balanced budget," he is set to say, according to the excerpts.
Finally, Mr. Romney plans to champion small businesses, "America's engine of job growth."
In a speech dominated by everyday economic concerns and prescriptions, Mr. Romney also was expected to call for a "united America…that will once again lead the world with innovation and productivity, and that will restore every father and mother's confidence that their children's future is brighter even than the past."
