Plums are blooming. Pears are near bloom. Home of Jason Lee.
Its raining lightly/normal and forecast snow at lower elevations( we may get a dusting) and heavy snow in the Cascades. DS will probably go night skiing and fight the college kids this weekend.

My dad went to take water and food donations to one of the harder hit zones today. It is very bad. Numerous homes absolutely gone and a few sub divisions have very bad damage. It is much, much worse than they originally thought. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.
He said it restored his faith in humanity a bit though. There were literally thousands of people bringing donations to a fairly small area. And SE Michigan is a place that is struggling mightily.
sg- *shakes head*
Apparently we had another salt shortage this year so the mild winter was a lucky break.
of course, the funny thing about having basically no snow this winter, is that the state of Maryland still spent basically their entire snow removal budget. How did they do this? I have no idea.
I've seen 3 tornadoes way too close to me in my life time. 1 in Michigan, 2 in Minnesota. The one when I was in Michigan was only a few miles away from our school. We could hear the sirens and see the funnel clouds and they kept us in our classrooms. Many of us 7th graders went into the hallway despite being yelled at to stay in the classroom. Sorry, but the classroom had a wall full of glass windows and we weren't chancing it. Apparently the Catholic school was convinced God would protect us and therefore we could ignore the tornado sirens...
Check out some pictures from around campus there if you can. The water is so deep. Numerous films of the tornadoes are popping up.
This is the earliest tornado on record in Washtenaw County. At least 3 tornadoes were reported today around Michigan.
Just freaky for this time of year. And we're not really used to tornadoes around these parts!
I remember my first tornado warning when I lived midwest. I had no real idea what to do. "The Wizard of Oz" and a small twister that freakishly uprooted several trees in my hometown were my only reference points. The flash floods scared me more.
Weather sucks when it is trying to kill you!
Our friends from Cali are at the U Mich tournament this weekend. I think they arrived this am. Not great weather but I am sure they will have fun seeing girls play We got several emergency alert calls from school - strange since girl hasn't started yet!
We had only 1 big snowstorm this year - in October and a couple of tiny ones. Last year we were buried. I much prefer this and could definitely get use to this.
Is anyone else having just very, very strange weather this year?
Here, we had maybe 3-4 big snows this year, MUCH lower than normal. It's been an extremely mild winter.
It's now officially the warmest March on record. A year ago this time, we had a huge snow storm (I remember because we were on spring break and it was terrible to drive home). Now, it's in the 70s. Furthermore, we've had numerous tornado warnings in the last week or so and now there's been a reported tornado near U of M.
It's fairly rare to have tornadoes here in Michigan, but it's almost unheard of to have them this early.
We had one confirmed tornado not too far from U of M. Most likely at least 2. Few houses and businesses destroyed, more damaged. Some cars at U of M flooded because the water got so high.
You might like this, but so do the pests. I guess a lot of farmers are worried that bugs are going to be VERY bad this year.
I hate bugs.
Edit: It doesn't seem like anyone was hurt, at least not seriously. Very thankful for that.
