He was considered a warmonger and his economic view "voodoo economics" by his main opponent - Bush.  Regardless, I voted for him both terms.

I can't remember what the mainstream thought of Reagan in the eighties, because I was a Democrat then and I bought the party line that he was an "amiable dunce." ;)

Was he considered an "out there" conservative by the moderates--anyone know?

I think there has always been tension within any party because you will always have an extreme element within the party, that being said, I believe the mainstream voters of that party do not really think about them, and that is why you are seeing the loud noise. They are tired of being the red-headed step child.

Is this really anything new? Hasn't there been a tension between the more stringent conservatives and the moderates in the party for a long time? Since at least Goldwater?

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing at all. Though I don't support Santorum, he has brought some social issues to the table that segments of the American public are concerned about. What is wrong with that? Are we to censor people's views because we don't agree with them?

This is, after all, still a democracy (unless Obama wins another four years).

Only thing to do Pima is go for, Ron Paul. evileye

You know, everyone could see what was happening when Sarah P was chosen as the VP Candidate. I could see what was happening when McCain got dirtytricked by W's handlers. And Birthers,  No one in the R party leadership wanted to stop that stupidness. I could go on, but what's the payoff... hmm

This Party must die and die badly.

Romney is playing the game as a nom., he doesn't want to say anything because he knows come Aug everything he ever said will be on the news 24/7. It would be a detriment to open his mouth now. He has enough govs/outsiders in his pocket to let them speak. Mich, NJ, AZ, Trump, PACs, etc.

I don't get any Ricky supporter, because the only way I see it is they are the reason Olympia Snowe is retiring...partisanship. They are putting their personal agenda at the top and will not do what is best.

Do not get me wrong, we can extrapolate this out to say the R's or the Ds are doing this too. However, this is not about general election right now, it is about the R party.

If someone can convert me from believing Ricky is a non-viable R compared to Mitt, esp. when it comes to I's. I am all eyes! Type away.

If nobody comes to his defense on this site, I go back to my comment come November we all be watching the Biggest Loser and I don't mean the show on NBC regarding obese people!

Santorum says so few things that I can identify with in any way that I feel as though I'm being punked when he speaks. Then I see the people around him clapping and I think that surely they can't understand what he's saying.

Lately, Romney hasn't said much I can identify with either but I don't think he's being honest about the way he feels about a lot of things.

Trying to keep this now on track for Ricky.

My prediction come election night. By 8:30 we on the east coast will all be mad at the local CBS, ABC, NBC affiliates if he is the R nom, simply due to the fact Obama would have won and we have to listen/wait until CA comes in, meaning we won't see NCIS, White Collar or Biggest Loser!  Oops, sorry we will be watching the Biggest Loser...Ricky!

Again listening to Ricky is like watching paint dry! I would rather stick needles in my eyes than see him on TV. Something about his face/smile is off putting, I don't know what it is, but when I look at him on TV my body literally pulls away and jerks/shrugs in a weird way. Sad to say, but I can deal looking at Ron or Newt over him and not have that reaction. Let's be honest pretty sad to say you would rather look at OOMPA LOOMPA (Newt) or Grandpa (Ron) over someone in your age group!

LMFAO right now because I know threads divert, but man we have really pushed it if all you did was come to read the 1st and last post you would def. go back and read every post to figure out where we went off the rails.

Now JMPO, but I think that shows how little people care about Ricky, that they would rather discuss anything,  but him.  He is like watching paint dry!

So what? That comment is irrelevant to what Mrs. Obama is doing too. Ms Harding has a point of view. She found research to support it - sort of. She can have her opinion. It's not definitive of anything.

To me, taking a stand against kids being encouraged to eat better is just indicative of the "haters gonna hate Michelle Obama" agenda.

I read the Salon article and I call "bull****" on it.  Not only does it fit nicely into the author's agenda as evidenced by other writings, but it is terribly sourced and has little to do with Michelle Obama is trying to do.

I had not intended to put this on a discussion board - it's more sharing than I feel comfortable doing, but goes right to the point of this article about fit vs. fat and when I hit the section on testing kids for BMI my blood pressure boiled.

Only a few of the posters on this board know about this.  For the rest, a little background on my son. In his senior year of high school, he won an ROTC scholarship through a branch of the military.  He maintained his physical fitness, grades and leadership training through four years of college. He was in a Tier One STEM major and studied a middle Eastern foreign language as a minor, even culminating in overseas study abroad program one summer.

A couple of months ago, which should have been just weeks before his graduation and commissioning ceremony, he was tested for weight.  He was overweight by 8 pounds on the men's weight/height chart.  They did a tape measure test - he was approx 1.5 inches over on his waist measurement. He admitted that his classes were kicking his butt and he wasn't spending as much time at the gym.  He is also a pretty astounding cook (didn't come from me).

He was disenrolled from the ROTC program.

For "Inability to maintain weight standards."

He could bench press his roommate, who is now an officer and in terms of body type, he had a stocky, muscular build.  He participated in triathalons, but was "out of shape" according to his unit.

The standards for weight and waivers for them ended in that branch of service in 2010 - I don't think his weight would have ever been perfect for those weight charts when he went into the program.

Let's just say BMI pisses me off.  It didn't really determine whether he was fit - they just determined he was fat.

He might now owe back more than $100,000 in tuition because of this.  We are waiting on an appeal.

I bet you $100 my son could outlast his commanding officer in any sport, any treadmill or any run/swim.  Unfortunately, he won't be representing that line of military because of BMI issue.

Sasha Obama is a stick. Both of those girls are.

There is a difference between being a little chubby when you're very young and being on the path to obesity. There are too many kids who are becoming obese, not just "a little overweight" in early elementary school.

I don't agree with the lunchrooms who are swapping out home food for lunchroom food. That's too far. But what is wrong with encouraging healthy lifestyles? The DARE program was a failure so does that mean we should stop telling kids to stay off drugs?

For someone with degrees from Princeton and Harvard, Michelle sure does present a simplistic attitude toward "Childhood Obesity."  This is an extremely complex issue, which cannot be dealth with in soundbites or with jumping jacks. You can search online, poetsheart, and find plenty of well-documented research pointing to the flaws in Michelle's approach -- and they don't seem to be rooted in the idea that the O's are "illegitimate interlopers" either.

You might want to start with this:

http://www.salon.com/2010/02/10/michelle_obama_weight/

I esp. found this tidbit interesting:

In a recent study of the teachers most likely to be involved in school-based obesity prevention activities, we found a low level of nutrition knowledge and knowledge of weight control, a great deal of misinformation being conveyed from teacher to students, and a very high level of body dissatisfaction and self-reported eating disorders, particularly among the young women teachers.

OMG, you mean the author is a FAT PERSON???

Well, then, I guess that's the final word, cartera.

Except for this:

Reading the comments section here...

...is truly depressing. As a public health researcher specializing in critical perspectives on the obesity epidemic, I'm really taken aback by the maliciousness of many commentators. Ms. Harding has done her homework in this article. I'm familiar with the research she's cited and assure you she hasn't drawn erroneous conclusions.

I think the problem may be that many people are conflating cardiovascular and metabolic health with weight. Yes, many overweight people are in poor metabolic health but this is likely because diet and activity (the true causes of poor health outcomes) are associated with weight, not because adipose tissue per se "causes" bad health. Weight, then, shouldn't be the focus of a health campaign. As Ms. Harding suggests the focus should be on improving EVERYONE'S health regardless of size by promoting nutritious foods and fun physical activity. "Healthy at every size" is not simply an "excuse for being fat" as some here seem to argue. It's a reason to encourage healthy lifestyles regardless of size. A randomized controlled trial has shown healthy at every size interventions to be more effective in improving health than traditional interventions focusing on body size and weight loss.

I understand that in our culture of thinness with incessant media attention on the "obesity epidemic," an argument like Ms. Harding's sounds akin to denying global climate change, as another poster argued. But the more research I've reviewed the more convinced I've become that our obsession with weight loss is less about health and more about a moral and aesthetic imperative. Please don't dismiss these arguments without giving them due consideration.

Lest I be accused of having a (fat person's) agenda, I've been within the normal range  (middle normal in my teens to low normal in my twenties to high normal now) since I had my growth spurt in the seventh grade.

Look, poetsheart, I don't think you took the time to read the article I posted, let alone look up more serious research.

It's possible you just really don't comprehend the complexities involved in this, but I tend to think it's more like Michelle can do no wrong in your eyes.

Should I post more from eating disorder experts, or do you prefer to continue to imply I'm some kind of racist for daring to criticize dear Michelle's pet project?

Yep, BMI seemed like an obvious crock when it began, samurai. I am amazed it wasn't discredited for good long ago. That is awful about your son; boy, would I be ticked.

My daughter was 11 pounds at birth.  No diabetes, none of that.  My daughter's doctor was  very concerned about her weight being off the chart when she was little.  She was chubby until about 2 and then just sprouted and I think has finally hit her adult height of 5 foot 9.  She is also heavier by typical weight chart standards - her new doc took a glance at her chart and about freaked out, thinking the nurse wrote it wrong. She is all lean muscle and even though she carries more pounds, she wears a small size.  That is what happens with kids who work out as much as she does.

Kids grow at their own rates.

I am not for the lunchroom Nazis.  Most everything a kid could bring from home is better than what is in the cafeteria.  Maybe if they cooked their own food, but so much of it is filled with preservatives and reheated in a microwave, there isn't much nutritional stuff there. At least not in the schools I work in.

Michelle's younger daughter is chubby. As I said, kids go through stages. There is no way to predict that chubby kids will turn into chubby adults. I feel really, really sorry for Sasha. You can't control what people eat. Obviously, she can't even control what Sasha eats (and nor should she). It's a silly endeavor.

Yup, Sasha Obama. Now that's one chubby kid!

http://www.daylife.com/photo/04A1gEQet9aHi?__site=daylife&q=Sasha+Obama

Looks like Michele may have done what any responsible parent might do when they see unhealthy eating habits starting to have a deleterius effect on their child's weight: she helped Sasha make healthier food choices and perhaps got her exercising more, so that, not only might she be more healthy, but as a bonus, shouldn't have to experience the embarrassment suffered by other "extremely self-conscious" chubby kids.

Bus we are off topic, but as a retired AF officer you will laugh. AFROTC det had to order pants for him because he was a 29 in waist, 32 inseam, they did not have any that would fit him.

DS has the worst eating habits in the world, coke, potato chips, starch, no veggies is his daily menu. He is athletic because of ROTC, and how the military keeps a score for that. I.E. has to run 1 mile and a 7 minute stinks. Must do 18 pull ups to max. Must do 85 sit ups in perfect from within 2 minutes or 55 push ups. All of these things have limited rest time.

Before criticism gets thrown my way, we called him the "clown" every night I serve veggies and salad, he would make faces while eating the veggies. I got to the point as a parent that I accepted this and at least he had to eat 2 servings of fruit. He will eat an entire watermelon, pineapple bag of frozen grapes in one night. I cannot keep enough fruit in the house

That is why I say this is BS for the chow halls. Don't even start me with the 82nd Army. What our son endures physically is a cake walk. Their PT includes 5 mile walks in Aug with a 70 lb ruck sack, or thrown in a pool with their uniform and boots on, that is why I think her initiative regarding the military is pure BS and a waste of govt dollars.

I disagree about the eating disorder amongst women.

Putting on fat could be an evolutionary thingy.

Mama bears need put on a lot of reserves to care for cubs and for lean times. They need to eat when food is plentiful. The problem is that there is too much food and not enough physical exercise.

For boy bears, extra weight is detrimental in challenges to their conquests. They need to be mean and lean. Unfortunately for males, it only takes a single male to service many females. Winner takes all.

For humans: Females, it's the booties and hooties that attract the males.winkMales, it's the wide shoulders and tight toshy that attract the females.evileye

Yes, we learned about the food groups in school, but this was strictly impersonal. Nobody was pointing fingers at the fatties in the fourth grade.I was a chubby kid. I can imagine how mortified I would have been if Michelle came into my class and told me to do jumping jacks. I was already extremely self-conscious, as was every other chubby friend I had at the time. It's none of your business, lady.Is Michelle aware of the "eating disorder epidemic" among girls?

Has Michelle O actually gone into classrooms and singled out the fat kids to do jumping jacks? I doubt it. In any case, I rather doubt the First Lady's campaign to fight childhood obesity is any more of an embarrassment to fat/chubby kids than they already experience day to day; embarrassment from peers, teachers, coaches, relatives. But never mind, our kids are getting fatter, less active, and less healthy by the day and in growing numbers, but what the hell---just as long as they don't "feel bad" about it... So what if morbidly obese children have adult metabolic diseases at rates never seen before, we should all just shrug it off as "growing pains" and assume it will self-correct. Got it. And as far as the "eating disorder epidemic among girls", you are aware aren't you, that over-eating is the "eating disorder" currently being represented in far greater numbers? But, of course, if MO were to focus on anorexia/bulimia as well, that too would surely be wrong. Afterall, that might make those children feel bad about themselves, because only The First Lady has the power to make kids with eating disorders feel self-conscious about it. While we're at it, we should probably stop awarding letter grades in school, too. The failing kids will probably feel bad about themselves, seeing all those D's and F's...Probably why the Dept. of Education is a bad idea. If only we'd stop spot-lighting problems with education and children's health, they will stop being problems. They're only problems if you say they are, after all...

My point regarding the menu was not petty as far as I see it. My point was this is her platform, lead! Show by example.

Again, her platform is the addressing of childhood obesity. If it were obesity in general, then maybe you might have a point. It was one meal served at the White House to America's Governors. I'm sure there would have been holy hell to pay if she'd have ordered they be served diet food, when every other White House formal dinner since time out of mind has been a venue for gourmet cuisine. I can just imagine the GOP outrage now..."First Lady imposes elitist food doctrine [just another example of Obama False Theology!] upon America's Governors, forcing them to eat supposed "health food" at function. First Lady flagrantly disregards 100 yrs. of White House tradition..." It was also undoubtedly wrong, wrong, wrong for them to serve steak and chocolate creme brulet to 70 Iraqi war veterans at a gratitude White House Dinner tonight. Wrong to invite only 70 of them and not every troop who ever served in Iraq and Afghanistan. But to serve them gourmet cuisine on top of all that?....what the hell were they thinking....?disbelief

I think to say Nancy did drugs was wrong regarding comparison. Are you saying she smoked pot, or snorted coke? Her don't do drugs was regarding illegal drugs.

Huh? You might want to re-read what I wrote. I did not say Nancy Reagan ever did drugs of any sort. As far as I know, she did not. I was responding to hope, who apparently tried to draw an analogy between the Obamas sometimes eating things not good for them while preaching about childhood obesity, and Nancy Reagan not doing drugs while preaching "just say no." It's a false dichotomy, and I went on to explain why I thought so.

Petty to you, and I get that, but to me, Bullet and I raised our children by our own actions. No offense, but this is true for the 1st couple. Don't say do this, and do that when it comes to your life. Do it every minute of everyday. You dang well know everything you do will be reported, so live your life that way.

Indeed everything you do will be reported, and spun, spun, spun to make you look bad if it will serve someone's agenda. You just do the best you can and keep moving, because you're damned if you do and damned if you don't!

This, for example:

My guess is that Michelle is projecting her own body image/size/food issues on all of us.  Push-ups on tv? We are required to respect that in our first lady? Why? It's just frivolous.

Lead by example/not lead by example. You're wrong either way...

Geez, 5'10" and 147 sounds like an extremely healthy weight. I can't imagine what they're looking for. That sounds lean and perfect for a young man. My older son is about that height and no more than 125 on a good day, can't gain weight if he tried. Apparently not only would they not let him into the military, they'd force feed him with intravenous milkshakes if they ran into him in the street. Has your son considered sticking a 5 pound weight in his clothing? I know people who got flying slots though they were inches too short, by either standing on their toes during height measurements, or sticking lifts in their socks. Really!

My gym's method of measurement determined that I was borderline obese...at 5'5" and 125 pounds. Perhaps their method is to enrage people, which worked, because I started working out alot more.

I agree with hope.

We have a huge eating disorder among females.

It is a choice. Please don't say her program has not cost a dime. We now have Lunch Nazi's at schools. The military is cutting troops due to budget issues, but at the same time they are increasing the food costs for her obesity program. It is inane that people believe this will make a difference for many reasons.

1. Every military installation has Fast Food joints on base. An AIC will just go to BK instead of the chow hall.
2. Every military installation has commissaries and shoppettes, where they sell crap food, such as Bagel Bites.
3. Every AD member must pass a physical fitness test yrly. Plus if they are overweight, they are taped for BMI. If they fail either of these they are immediately placed on a health plan. Changing out the food will not matter, especially when their arse in the sandbox living on MRE's.
4. Our DS is 5'10, 147lbs, and when he went to field training for the AF, he was given 2nds because he was too thin. He was told if he lost 5 lbs during this time he would be medically disqualified.

My point regarding the menu was not petty as far as I see it. My point was this is her platform, lead! Show by example. I think to say Nancy did drugs was wrong regarding comparison. Are you saying she smoked pot, or snorted coke? Her don't do drugs was regarding illegal drugs. I am not, nor have ever been a fan of Nancy as a 1st Lady. I think she was one of the worst from buying china when the economy was hurting to her astrologers and re-gifting. My favorite is Barbara Bush, not only for her fake pearl necklace and highlighting Lupus, but from an interview that explained why you always saw her in mis-matching Keds. She wears mis-matching Keds because she received so many prs from people, according to her over 9K pairs, that she felt if someone spent the money and sent a pr to her she needed to wear them, thus, she wore mis-matching shoes. Every pr she wore was than donated, and sold with proceeds going to Lupus organizations.

The govt did not pay a dime. She helped more just by her name.

Michelle can do the exact same thing. She is known to wear J Crew, I bet my kids she has received gifts like Barbara. Do the same wear it, and sell it with proceeds to go to Obesity programs.

Petty to you, and I get that, but to me, Bullet and I raised our children by our own actions. No offense, but this is true for the 1st couple. Don't say do this, and do that when it comes to your life. Do it every minute of everyday. You dang well know everything you do will be reported, so live your life that way.

Off topic again, but on topic why they have image issues when it comes to the 12 election. We all remember Bush and the golfing ad. This administration states we all must endure the pain. Yet, she has taken 16 vacations in 3 yrs, and AF2 takes her with SS. He has played more golf in 3 yrs than Bush did in 8 yrs. This will be an R ad run over and over again. Not saying this is right, just saying when it comes to the general election they will go for the moderates and Independents. It will resonate with them.

Back on topic regarding Ricky.

Iran and Israel will be an issue from a global perspective. I don't think he has those negotiating skills.

I think he is too much an R.

Of course, if at bottom, you believe the couple in the White House are illegitimate interlopers

There you go again, poetsheart. Talk about a straw man.

What we choose to put into our mouths is one of the most personal things we do. If she wants to go after adults, I have less of a problem with it, although it's still stupid for such a high-profile person a a first lady.  Do you really think adults don't know what they should and should not be eating?

Tough luck for Michelle and Barry in their brave new world that people still get to make personal choices in this country.

There's actually a really large Michigan (or ex-Michigan) population still in AZ. When my parents went to a Phoenix/Detroit hockey game out there, my dad was convinced that there were more Wings fans than Coyote fans. They said that half the people they talk to in Phoenix and Scotsdale are from Michigan.

Dno why AZ *shrug*

We'll see how not-so-super Tuesday goes.

I telling you, that Mitt was gonna to win AZ.

A lot of Chicago and Detroit Jews moved to sunny AZ when they retired -Snowbirds. Then they died in AZ. LDS converted them to LDS. Now as LDS'ers they voted for Mitt. Didn't the R's proved that many dead Blacks voted for Kerry. Why not deceased Jew/LDS voting for Romney?

How disappointing - Ricky didn't win Michigan.  Just when it got interesting, things are moving back to dull "treeman" Romney.  Maybe the Republican voters aren't so stupid after all.

Hm... looks like I was right so far about Michigan. Western trolls and youppers are going Ricky, Eastern (and central) trolls are going Romney. No surprises yet. Tight race. *grabs some popcorn*

MR is going to win the Western States. Especially when the LDS church mobilizes the converted deceased Jews to MR's cause. evileye

Just think, only a few weeks ago, any R candidate could have beaten OB.

As OB said about who would he like to run against, "IDK, I'm waiting to see who's voted off the island."

If people can't tell the difference between advocating for an anti-drug message for kids and telling them what they should be eating, I can't explain it to you.  It's a parents' rights issue. Big government reaching into your kids' lunchboxes. C'mon. Btw, I don't think Nancy was taking drugs on the side.

There you go again. "It's a parents' rights issue" when Michelle O encourages exercise and healthy food to address childhood obesity, but not if Dr. Oz does it, or your pediatrician? It's "Big Government" reaching into your kids' lunchboxes when a woman who isn't government at all merely advocates the same. God forbid she might actually want children in America to be healthier, that evil elitist! Lots of people tell us "what we should be eating" everyday. Heck, the USDA has been doing it for well over 50 years, but I don't recall reading anyone of Michelle O's detractors calling the USDA Big Brother.

And as far as the last sentence, about Nancy Reagan not taking drugs, that point is a straw man. Michelle Obama is not calling for everyone to eat nothing but veggies and tofu. She's calling for healthier food choices being made available to children more often, and for opportunities for children to be more physically active. Why is something like this politically controversial? Everyone knows that growing numbers of children are experiencing medical problems traditionally only seen in adults; things like high cholesterol, high blood pressure and and type 2 diabetes. When this triumvirate of symptoms occur together, they are known as metabolic syndrome, and it's very serious, especially when seen in a 9 yr old. Cases of children with metabolic syndrome are increasing at a drastic rate, and it's something we should all be concerned about. It should not be a issue used as political fodder, and people who are doing so ought to be ashamed. It's mean spirited to attack a First Lady for her sincere attempts to address issues important to childrens' health. I thought the crap Nancy Reagan took for her "just say no" campaign was also cruel, and a cheap attempt to damage The President by using his wife as fodder. It's unfair to expect a First Lady to have all the answers, or to have the power to single-handedly eliminate a large and complex social issue, such as childhood iliteracy, drug abuse, or childhood obesity. Really, the only thing we can reasonably expect a her to do is to shine a light on the problem, and to advoccate for a collective addressing of that problem, for all of us, parents and concerned citizens, communities and lawmakers to work together to lessen its impact on our children.

I had to laugh at the encourage healthy lifestyles because this is what she served for the Governor's reception:
The 2012 Governors' Dinner Menu

It's petty to attack the First Lady as being a hypocrite just because The White House didn't serve a low calorie meal at a formal Dinner. Really? Formal Dinners (especially State Dinners) serve to represent The Presidency of The United States as a Global Power. It is customary for World Leaders to serve only the best, most savory and delicious culinary faire to important visitors and world leaders. It's ridiculous to hold a First Lady responsible for not serving carrots and celery in the name of remaining consistent about fighting "Childhood Obesity" at such an affair. Were there children at this Dinner? And if so, were they overweight? If you're against binge drinking in young people, does it mean you're a hypocrite if you serve wine at an adult dinner party in your home, or if you have an occassional drink yourself? Think about it... Of course, if at bottom, you believe the couple in the White House are illegitimate interlopers, you would probably criticize them for presuming to do what people in their position normally do when carrying out traditional duties in traditional settings; and then criticize them as being "out of their depth" if they were to deviate in anyway from such traditions---catch-22 and all...

I don't care that Romney is rich either. My poking fun is at his constant attempts to look more like an average Joe and then he says things like - we love Americian cars. Ann has a couple of Cadillacs or I know NASCAR owners. He just always goes a little too far and it definitely injects some levity into the Republican primary horror show.

RE the "Obesity Epidemic" I thought it was hilarious when there was outrage when some criticized Adele (the singer) for her weight. She came back and said she has a positive body image and **rew them. So which is it, liberals? Tell our kids and teens they are fat in the interest of curing the "Obesity Epidemic," or teach them to have self-esteem and a healthy body image?

Many kids outgrow their chubbiness. That seems to have been the pattern in my birth family and with my own kids. What kind of harm is being done to these kids? Don't girls have enough issues around food? But that's the liberal way--muddled ideas carried out even more muddily. Michelle's crusade is not just silly--it could be dangerous.

romani, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but experience does count in life. That's why we don't elect 22 year olds for president.

Here we go again, as soon as someone starts criticizing Michelle and O, they "hate" them.  I was so sick of reading about Romney's tree remark (who cares?), and about "Sanitarium" I thought I'd throw a little anti-O's rhetoric out there.  Predictable response.

Off topic, but to respond to romanigypsyeyes.

I had to laugh at the encourage healthy lifestyles because this is what she served for the Governor's reception:
The 2012 Governors' Dinner Menu

First
South Lawn Kitchen Garden Salad

Entree
Rib Eye Steak
Creamed spinach
Maryland Crab Macaroni & cheese

Dessert
Pear tart
with Ice Cream

Add up the calories, and look at the entree, that is not a healthy lifestyle. I am not saying serve Tofu, I am saying practice what you preach.

I bake alot. A pear tart is filled with butter, be it in the crust or the saute, it is there and we are not talking a stick for 12 servings, much more than that. Want to be health conscious serve a sorbet or even frozen yogurt. The reason people love ice cream over yogurt is due to the "fat" in the cream, plus the sugar.

You can't tell me creamed spinach is a healthier option than grilled asparagus. Nor can anyone tell me Mac and cheese can be healthy even if you throw in crab.

I read this on drudge yesterday, and the article did a calorie count, it was over 2200 calories. You are young, but any woman over forty knows that dinner alone blew your caloric intake for the day, and you would have to eat only @600 calories the next day, or spend hours at the gym to balance that. Add in the different wine they served for each course, and you now have 0 calories for the next day.

I just really disdain when people prop her up as this image, when behind closed doors they don't follow what they preach. Obama is known to love 5 Guys, and Ben's Chili in DC for lunch. He isn't even following her advice. They are also known to have Chicago Pizza flown in for them.

Yes, she started the organic market in DC, a total failure due to multiple reasons, but the big 2 are:
1. Shutting down K street on Market days, which is a work day. DC traffic is nasty and a 20 mile commute between 2 - 6 pm will be at least 45 mins without a street being closed.
2. She maybe able to afford a point of mushrooms for 8 bucks, but Joe Schmoe can't.

When the WAPO a liberal newspaper criticizes them for things like that, you know it is not good.

Back on topic.
