Good Dionne Warwick rendition too.

His best hope for tonight is to break out in song.

I didn't hear anything deep and rich in his voice in that snippet or the Dionne Warwich/Aretha Franklin snippets.

Have you ever heard Al Green sing? He is a tenor.

I hate to say this but it is probably because he is a smoker. Some male smokers can get a deeper richer voice because of smoking. Other male smokers sound like a cross between a foghorn and chalk being scratched in a blackboard.

Good thing he has a wonderful voice--then he will have something to fall back on after next November.

I didn't know that he had sung on a few other occasions, when other singers are in the audience. There are youtubes of him doing some Dionne Warwick and Aretha Franklin.

Singing a bit of this is the first time the President has charmed me in three years. I'm all for bringing attention to Al Green--was just introducing some of his tunes to my son over Christmas break!

Reference is made to this moment in an otherwise uncharacteristic smack-down of the O's by Maureen.  Rings really true to me!

Well you know, Herman Cain has a pretty good voice, too, razor. Is he a smoker? Btw, the word from the Administration is that Obama is no longer a smoker. I hope that's true. My H, who smoked almost two packs a day for over thirty years, quit two years ago. I'm rather in awe of that, truth be told, because I thought he was hopelessly hooked. Before that, I would have bet my life on the conviction that H would never quit. He's so much more pleasant to be around.smile
