I saw the video there was ONE girl, so I think it was a ring.

Celtic, I would love to know also about the U's?

I love the show SUITS, and the pilot show is about him doing exactly that for LSATs. He even tells the kid you are a B student if I got higher it would send flags. Which is the exact reason they got nailed.

From what I understand the school was clued in because the SAT was too high compared to their gpa.

Am I the only one that noticed all the kids looked alike as they did the perp walk?

Me too Pima!  I've read couple different accounts on the 'Sit for SAT' scandal and no one is asking the question I think most of us are thinking; What U's did the 6 kids get into and where are they attending? Inquiring minds want to know!!

In regards to taking the test for a female student, I can only guess she has a unisex name, i.e. Jordan, Alex, Morgan, Madison, etc... in order for that to pass the ID screening.

Perhaps the kids took public transportation to the test.  Or it was at their local high school.

Or the students signed up for a test not in their area.  I have had students do this - travelling and test out of the area.  Granted, it's often happened with students who are athletes and are scheduled for a tournament that weekend and they test at a center closer to the sports site, then they leave and go to their next game.

I don't think the students are blackballed from attending college.

They would have to explain any felonies or disciplinary events that happened while a student.  If they are minors, I would assume that the students scores are invalidated and they would have to take the test again.  The SAT folks probably did notify the schools.

However, big disclaimer - each school handles this reporting, differently.  One school may expel a student for a violation. Another one, a handslap.  Some schools will not report things that seem minor. This happened with my sons - they did something in high school that was definitely poor judgement, but because it didn't happen on school grounds, they were given the handslap.  They self reported the violation to the colleges and it didn't stop them from admission.

There are also test optional colleges that don't require any scores, at all.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/09/27/7-arrested-for-alleged-sat-cheating-ring-at-great-neck-north-high-school/

I have more questions than answers.

1. Where do HS kids get 1000 to 2500 bucks to shell out to have someone take the test?  Parents maybe?

In other words, the kids were arrested, but the parents are not held accountable?

2. If I am correct NY's driving age is 18, theoretically these kids start taking the test at 16/17.

In other words the folks had to drive them to the school.  The kids had to get up and pretend to go if the folks were scammed by their children.

3. The student who took the test goes to college in Atlanta.

Granted he could have taken the May and June tests, but he did it for 6 kids, and these tests are only offered 1x a month ending in June and not resuming until Sept. which at that time he would be back in Atlanta.

So how did he do it for 6 kids?  Unless he had done it back when he was in HS as a sr.

I don't believe they will go to prison, they will be hit with a fine and essentially their life as they know it now is over.  He'll be kicked out of school...pretty sure he already was since he would have been arrested in Atlanta not NY.  The others will be kicked out and no college will accept them, so that leaves them with hoping they can do CC and transfer in 2 yrs.  I don't know if the CC will take them because they will have a record.

I do feel bad for them because obviously this is also a reflection of our society about the image of attending college.

We live in VA, and they have a program which I think is terrific because it reduces that stress.  You can attend a CC for 2 yrs pull a B avg and have automatic acceptance to any IS college.  No VA is very competitive and many of these kids want UVA, but UVA is a public Ivy.  Kids actually apply, expect to get the TWE, and have no issue going CC for 2 yrs so they can eventually get UVA and graduate still on time.  Some do not apply to back ups because it is UVA all the way no matter what!  The stigma of attending CC doesn't exist because kids get it.

They have a program like that in NC too, but UNCCH is not on the guaranteed list, UNC  is guaranteed, but they have multiple campuses, and that is how they can keep CH off the list.  This program is huge in NC also.  Nobody blinks an eye at people going to CC.   They all get it.  It is just a different path to get that dream school.
