I think there is a difference with some one who has a strong opinion that differs from your opinion and someone who is a bully and expressed an opinion for the purpose of offending you. I have no problem with the former. I sometimes gain a new perspective from people with strong opinions different from mine. I have a real problem with the latter. I am glad you got rid of that jackass kid. He is a bully. I don't think he has insight on anything but how to be a jerk. His posts are sometimes incomprehensible and that is also frustrating.
There is a difference between being obnoxious and being a troll.
He pretty much outlined his goal when he discussed having 10 other identities on CC after getting banned. I would rather shut down this board today than deal with a troll whose only intent is to annoy others.
You can't even go back and find all of his posts, because so many of them were deleted on CC. Yet, discussion of him lingers...for a reason.
It's like a skunk that gets in your car and leaves it's scent around for weeks. Personally, I would rather eradicate him than give him a forum. He doesn't have respect for others, why should I have respect for him?
Beleuh got banned for doing that on CC. I like to know if the emoticons are really on the job, all the time? If they are, at least I can keep something employed.
“And no offense, but I don't care if I'm welcome at any place. I stay there as long as I want, and then move off when I feel disinterested. Over & Out. I treat the admin's/mod's wishes as jack****.
Sounds like an OWSer.
Just sayin..

Ah, to be young and immature and hiding behind the anonymity that only an internet board can provide.
Yes, you are right CelticClan07. If we had just converted every American to islam and covered our women in potato sacks and killed all the homosexuals, we would have demonstrated true tolerance and avoided having our people killed. What were we thinking? I mean, what could be wrong with worshiping a prophet who was a polygamist and pedophile? Bush could have declared Marshall law and forced everyone to do the right thing, but he didn't. Now look at our country. It's just terrible. We don't sit on the floor all day long and say everything is Allah's will like we could have had we been a more advanced culture.
Pleasant as the fragrance from a freshly blossomed rose, isn't it, now?
As I said before on the 9/11 thread on College Confidential last month, using the ignore button does render trolls invisible.
Goluhaque's posts may be removed from that CC thread for being offensive, but our memories remain. I believe busdriver and Poetsheart will remember this.
I mean it - stay here if you are going to be pleasant. Discussing politics is fine. You acted like a troll there, so forgive us if we aren't expecting the same, here.
Hijacking the remembrance thread on 9/11 to turn it into political garbage was offensive to all of us on that thread. You can be young, you can be clever and you can use an anonymizer service to make yourself invisible, but if you are an ******* here, you won't be welcome.
Really? Stating my view is offensive? Your(as in the entirety of the group of people who call me a troll) not understanding of sarcasm is trolling? Your assumption of the fact that when I say "the entirety of my understanding of American Culture comes from this song*blah**blah**blah*", I mean that my understanding is true, is my fault? Wrong assumptions lead to wrong conclusions, muchacho. Not that I am asking you to correct yourself, I'm just stating the truth and rubbing in the fact that you(refer to the first usage) were wrong. And I guess this statement will indeed piss you off.

And you probably meant forgive us if we _are_ when you said
forgive us if we aren't expecting the same, here.
You got problems with my point of view, you post those problems. And please, let them be logical, not ones like "I hate you. You are a troll. Did I state that I hate you?". That just proves _your_ immaturity.
stay here if you are going to be pleasant
And what's being "pleasant"? Blind Conformity with the general view of the community? I'm not pleasant then.
If being "pleasant" is just the usage of non-offensive language, then I believe some of the other community members are more at fault for starting this.

No more related than your comment about "homework time." And honestly, either I am cracking up or you are a banned poster on CC. I am not sure why I remember your name.
I don't allow trolls here, though, so if that is the intent to stir up trouble, it won't be fun.

Welcome.
Yes sir, my account was banned from CC. Which led me to use tor, and create almost 11 other accounts on the same site.
My "homework time" _post_ was indeed related. It meant that Cartera needed to brush up his/her facts regarding the subject matter before he/she started to argue over it. I know, it hurts, but then, we can't really have a proper discussion without either one of us not knowing the basic history of the subject matter at hand. And sorry for the related part. I thought you too were debating.

I think it's safe to say that, based on the last post, golahaque is not Saugus. Not only is Saugus alive and well on CC but I never recall reading one of his/her posts and having no idea what he/she was talking about.
October 9th, 2011- Etch this date in stone, it may be a first, hopefully not a last. I wholeheartedly agree with Catera.
Yes, getting early apps submtted are important! Especially if they're rolling acceptances!
How creative & constructive. Creative part where you used a completely new adjective. Constructive part because you replied with such a good post pointing out the flaws in my conjecture in the earlier post.
There was not an ounce of sarcasm in my post. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I genuinely feel bad that you have so sad of a life that you get your kicks by tolling people you'll never meet. I just couldn't imagine being that bored and desperate.
Now, now, really? That is a bummer. Operation Ajax(1953) is so unknown to you people? Or do I need to name the other famous....er infamous adventures? Like the 9/11 in Chile?
And yes, what's up with the dogs in the profile pics?
EDIT: My nick is goluhaque. Please.

Before we start, I will give you an idea of which side I stand for-none. I'm completely objective. I'm an atheist and do not relate myself to anywhere. Now, since we have that part cleared up, let's continue. I will try to start it all in a somewhat organised manner.
Firstly, I hope you all agree with the fact that the US of A is a completely democratic country, democratic as in, by the people, of the people and for the people. Therfore, the policies and all decisions of the Government of the United States is a representative of the will of its people. Agreed?
Do any of you, and I believe all of you seriously value freedom as an important, basic and fundamental right of all human beings, believe in the fact that a person, whose country's policies were intervened in by the United States will view it in a favourable manner? And the fault of the government of that country was to banish some profit-guzzling oil companies, to better the conditions of its people. Is that really so bad, so as to put in a puppet, and arm him with a secret police force trained by the CIA just so that some oil companies get their profits back? And then supporting him to oppress the people of that country for mroe than 20 years? That is supporting freedom? That is fair-play?

Sorry to have distressed you. This forum could use some livening up, I suppose. But I gotta go take care of chores and family, so someone else needs to take the bait.
@busdriver11 & romanigypsyeyes , you guys really pierced my heart with your excellent attempt at sarcasm. Really, it's all bleeding.More than it did earlier when I was leading that pathetic excuse of a life. Your suggestion to get a hobby really helped though. Thanks.
Could we, say, by chance, try to actually convert this into a meaningful debate or something?
Woot. Look who's here people. Really, though, is this underground or something? I feel like a celeb already. You people are not polite for sure though.
Because College Confidential is basically run like a middle school. The mean girls rule the roost, and if you are not qualified to be in the clique (meaning conform to every politically correct view out there and be a Democrat--it also helps to have gone to a prestigious college or have a child who attends/attended one) you are subject to their whims.
I realize that is why some comments get people banned and some don't. But, why do they do this about screennames. In my case it was a houseguest. It could have been my child making his own screenname. I don't get this.
As you say, it is a very "middle school" mean girl mentality going on over there. It was very obvious that the lady who made a 2nd screenname to ask about selling her house because she was divorcing was part of the "in crowd". Her friends all knew who she was and they were very supportive. Yes, she does have children at elite schools. I was sickened by the thread.

My current alt, DolorousEdd, is on a week-long ban (MaineLonghorn giving me like 4 language warnings, from cursing to "crazy eyes Bachmann"). Made a new alt with a proxy/new email, got banned/deleted after one post... Man, they're fast.
Why are some people (non mods) allowed to have alternate names to discuss private matters but they will ban others?
I wrote in another thread here that a houseguest tried to make a screenname after borrowing my computer and was banned the next day. This person used his own email and everything. He must have been banned because the IP address was the same as mine since he used my laptop.
So, why can some people create new names to discuss personal matters?

Now, now Razor, is that nice? We must be tolerant and embrace all differing opinions, even if we don't agree. We don't want someone to 'feel bad'. Gosh no, that wouldn't be tolerant, we need everyone to 'feel good', get along, kumbayah and all that. Otherwise, if we don't act nice, they may bomb our country or slit our throats. Then it would be our fault, for not being accepting.
goluhaque is a real prick. How do I know this? In addition to reading his stupid s-hit head comments, he specifically said he was "dicking around". I hope he is denied admission to a US college.
Maybe temporarily banned, but right. And we know now. Of course it's good that his posts stand to show him to be an immature, selfish twit. Maybe he'll grow up and get some compassion when he actually witnesses things for himself.
That is the great thing about this site and the old politics site (before they got heavy handed). You could say what you wanted freely. Doesn't seem like telling a child how badly he is acting is something to be disciplined for, it seems like that's our responsibility.
I've been temporarily banned for a week for being "rude and insulting" on the 9/11 thread to the high school student from India (goluhaque) who was saying nasty things about US culture and implying that we deserved what we got -- all this in a thread that was supposed to be about people's memories of 9/11, in light of the upcoming anniversary.
I don't remember exactly what I said -- something along the lines of calling him an obnoxious little fool who doesn't belong in the thread, knows nothing about this subject, and should get lost. And that having seen the second tower fall with my own eyes, not on TV, I wasn't in the mood to read his nonsense.
It was worth it, although of course my post was deleted and goluhaques' posts still remain, God knows why. Apart from everything else, they were surely "political."
There is suggestions that the person who wants it shut down is Kelsey herself. There was a really odd post about her being really sick and only having one ear and such. Read the next few comments and it explains it a bit.
Okay, so I looked at that thread. Interesting. Is DoyleOwl also Roger Dooley? It makes me wonder, who would quote that sort of TOS stuff, anyways? I hope not, as I am sure that he would have enough common sense to know that when you are top management, you don't waste time arguing with the piss ants (ie us)! I'll have to give jym props for her calling BS on some of the posts. Who knows what intrigue lurks behind cc, I still enjoy reading some of it, but all the interpersonal stuff is far too complicated to follow.
A mod admitted he/she was wrong! Youtube links are now allowed and it was deleted, only to be returned. Sorry, I find great amusement in this (post 61 and 62).
I never find out about these fun threads until they're gone already. Now I have to check out the 9/11 thread and the drug testing thread. The thread about the young person needing money for school was shut down when I questioned whether CC had a scholarship fund. Then it came back sans my post.
They left up Mini's thread on welfare and drug testing which was obvious dig at Florida's republican governor but took down Poet's thread on 9/11 which was about as non-political as you can get unless you are a Taliban.
Curious indeed. I hate to even posit this, but could it be that someone from among CC's moderator staff monitors this forum, and if one of us points out any instances of policy inconsistency on CC, they take it well...personally, and then exact revenge when that person posts anything there? That seems pretty far fetched, as this is a rather puny forum, supposedly open by invitation only, and has no influence upon CC in the least, so I don't see how they could feel threatened in any way by our occasional idle speculation. Plus, this really is the first time I've had a non-political, non-confrontational thread of mine deleted. I do my best to respect the TOS at CC, as I've always valued that forum and its participants. That's why, for the most part, I stay out of potentially politically charged discussions in light of the closing of the political forum (though I really miss it). Who knows.....
Maybe it's just that someone over there dislikes me personally (though I hate to even give myself that much credit), and decided to whack my fingers with the proverbial ruler. It just may be that someone posted something incendiary and political on my 9/11 thread after I logged off and got busy doing other things. They tend to just delete threads that turn political instead of locking them nowadays. Heck, I don't know!
