I think that P&E had to go away because it was getting very obvious that certain posters could be rude and vicious and get no punishments. That was bound to cause confusion and the discovery that these rude posters were either friends of mods or were actual mods.
Perhaps whoever bought out CC was getting complaints?
I've noticed that a certain bully cloaked mod hasn't been posting lately...perhaps he was given some kind of scolding or reprimand for being obviously political in non-political forums and taking advantage of his cloaked-mod status.
Hmm... maybe I just grew up. I never much liked the College Life section (seriously, those kids make me depressed FOR them) and High School Life is just way too young now.
I hardly ever post there, either. The dynamics have changed.
And yet, it's same as it ever was. Just without the P & E forum. Kids chancing other kids, advice that ranges from terrible to terrific, and mindless drivel, with the occasional interesting thread.
Thanks, SLS. Things are going really well :D. I'm very happy with how everything has turned out.
I wasn't addicted to CC because of P&E, but after all the crap that went down during that whole fiasco, I found it less and less appealing. I lurk on there but will post maybe once or twice a week.
I still come on here and lurk occasionally, but when I do post I always get the same responses from the same people. It gets really old and predictable.
Plus, I'm back at college, in a new relationship, and just generally have a lot more of a life :).
If you go to CC and just look at the first 20 threads? They were almost all started by a different poster.
I mean, if you want a more objective opinion, if you look at the threads themselves, they have lots of posters on them, and some of them are people who only post one or two.
It's too bad the CC people didn't like P&E, and it's too bad people actually "reported" posts to the moderators. I'm sure that was what ultimately ended it, personally.
Anyway, this is a nice try. But, without the people who haven't all heard each others opinions on the matter, again....it probably won't work.
I voted "other", which is really a combination of all of the above.
With some topics, I have talked it all out - ie, the religion conversation up above in another section. I have strong opinions and have said them all, numerous times. It's either wisdom or fatigue, but I almost don't want to have the same conversations, again. Will I put my foot in that water? Yeah, maybe. I haven't decided yet.
We do have some members that simply lurk, but don't post.
When the mods killed the subforum of P & E, they killed a good thing. For all the bad, it was a good place to discuss random political issues with a large audience.
I admit I haven't been checking or posting as of late but I was surprised at the lack of activity when I stopped in to look around. It seemed like it was off to such a promising start but posts are way down. Anyone have any opinions as to why?
I'm really curious what everyone thinks.
Thanks!
