Garter snakes are vipers? Or was that just a literary conceit?

I think they are non-poisonous, but I am not a herpetologist.

What one really needs to know is what the snakes are eating.

There has to be a significant food source for that many reptiles....

Note there are no herbivorous snakes.

Even if, as they say, they taste like chicken there is no up-side to this nest of vipers (not capitol hill or the white house...I meant that literally).

OMG - that is the worst thing ever! I cannot abide snakes. I got chills just reading it. I saw a story a week or so ago about a family living in a house infested with tarantulas. That is the only thing that might be worse IMO.

 Sounds like a ssssteal. A beautiful five-bedroom house in Idaho for only $109,000. It comes with a tiny catch: The house is infested with thousands of live, writhing garter snakes.


You only have to pay $109,000 to wake up with a snake in your bed.  Now that's a deal if I have ever seen one.
