If Congresspeople need bodyguards, if we now think there are enough credible threats against members of Congress that they need armed protection, we should be supplying it. It should not be up to the individual Congressperson.
You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom.
I support "gun rights" 100%. This is because I value freedom more than security. That is my exact argument against the Patriot Act and many other government actions. If we had wanted to be secure more than we wanted to be free, we would have remained a part of the British empire.
But a Congressman needs some sort of professional security to guard against the occasional nutcase.
If she is practicing enough for her gun to do her any good, she is possibly neglecting her duties.
