We all let our fingers outrace our spelling occasionally.

I have seen foreign exchange high schoolers weep over English homonyms...

As a legal recruiter, I can tell you that I can't find enough SEC and FDA lawyers for the needs in private practice. The large financial firms love to hire attorneys from the SEC. One of the needs now is for those with expertise in exchange traded funds. I've had to get a mini-education in this area. Experience with fund transfers generally is also sought.  Law firms continue to clamor for FDA attorneys. Knowledge of regulations involving prescription and counter drugs, advertising, medical devices, anti-kickback laws, etc. is a hot commodity.

When the Roman Catholic Church was effectively the uber-government of Europe, the sort of abuses with respect to abuse of influence and fiscal corruption we are seeing in the US government today lead to the Protestant Reformation and the subsequent counter Reformation.

Congressional celibacy?

But for whom will he "get things done"?

The whole Wall Street bailout circumstance reeks of favoritism. Can the country stand more of the same?

Although his father and brother were Mayors of Chicago, William Daley has not been involved in Chicago politics. He was an Illinois businessman and then became Commerce Secretary under Clinton.

Amazingly, he is supported by some, including Howard Dean, whose politics are well to the left of his. They say he is a pragmatic guy who gets things done.

A JP Morgan executive... wonder what he will advise Obama in relation to banking policies?

Gotta replace the people who leave though... here is an article about people who just wrote the legislation leaving for the private sector to advise them on how to best exploit the new legislation: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/29/AR2010122902721.html

More of the same old , same old.

When he worked on Wall Street, the Federal Governmant backstopped his screwups.

When he screws up in government who will bail him out? The Chinese?

I think the "risk without consequences" paradigm that prevades Wall Street has served the larger society poorly. Why encourage and propagate that?

Bringing Obama to the center or more Chicago-style politics?  What do you think?
