I do find it funny that Der Spiegel is the one writing this. I'm more bullish on the US than the EU, honestly.

Interesting article.

The "wealth" of America is in overpriced real estate (still!), minimally occupied strip malls and unproductive office towers.

Touchstone for the value of an asset to a society; If "push comes to shove", can we use this thing to make stuff to kill people we do not like?

Strip malls = NO

Aluminum smelters and steel millls = yes

It also seems like a really stupid policy to pay the smartest people to invent financial scams. Wall Street hasn't earned an honest dollar in decades.

Monetize the national debt. Close the borders. Tax imports at ever increasing levels to allow for adjustments in supply and consumption.

Cut gas taxes in half for synthetic fuels. Double taxes on fuel from imported oil.

Do not sell debt to any foreign entity.

Its not rocket science. But it is survival... or not.

We as a society may have just got too stupid to endure.

Oh yeah. If we "go down", Israel as a modern state will never see its second century.
Look for a limited nuclear exchange in the Mideast.

You don't think China will backstop Israel do you?
