Bikes, basketball goals, electric vehicles (curse Barbie and all her ilk!) and etc. were a challenge, even for a professional.(I train industrial maintenance mechanics as part of my duties).
Perhaps the Frangelico in the eggnog inhibited my normally formidable mechanical skills...
Why, I can remember when personal computers came without color coded cables.
"Some assembly required"="Abandon hope all ye who enter here" or at least "abandon hope of a reasonable amount of sleep".
Why aren't there "rent an elfs"? Maybe there are for the very well-heeled.

I remember too many years of little sleep as Santa arrived, and being utterly wiped out the next day. Exhausted, but happy. It's just so different when they get older. I had the itch to buy each of them some sort of toy so they can play with it on Christmas, like a nerf dart gun or Legos. I thought better of it, because I would probably get the funny looks, but the sound of the kids playing with their gifts was always a delight as they were growing up!
The last few days have been nice. Too much shopping but at least the worst of our weather was only lots of rain and nothing like snow or ice.
Now with the kids older, the holiday takes on a different dynamic. Two of my kiddos helped to make the coffeecake (yes, there will be enough for everyone), we made a late night run to three drugstores with Kodak picture makers (not working! Dang!), my daughter and I nearly were driven to the brink of insanity on a craft project from Hell, and there are still unwrapped gifts that I haven't gotten around to wrap, yet.
^ A lot of people misread my name that way. One particular troll followed me around CC calling me "pig" as an insult. Yup it's Romani Gypsy Eyes (my grandpa was a Gypsy and since we had the same eyes he used to call me his little Gypsy Eyes). I swore I would capitalize it properly if I were given the chance to redo it on CC... I forgot to do it on here as well :/.
I just looked closely at your screen name, roman, and I'm embarrassed to say, I've been misreading it all along. For some reason, I'd thought it was Roamingpigeyes. The "gypsy" is much better! Happy Yule, y'all, from the home of the Kentucky Wildcats!
Merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, belated Hanukkah, and Feliz Navidad to all and sundry, here in our wonderful new cyber home. And a special heartfelt thank you to LGM/MH for making this site happen. :) :) Hindoo/Mary
