This is not the first time a judge has discriminated against an atheist or agnostic in custody cases (if this was actually the reason the father's custody was reduced). Some judges can't seem to separate their religious preferences from their job.
If that was the reason, it's unconscionable. His religious preferences are entitled to every bit as much respect as his ex-wife's when it comes to custody issues. And it seems absurd to me that his ex was able to manufacture a "lack of communication" simply by disapproving of his being agnostic.
First, if this is true then it is a travesty. I'm not religious in any sense, pro or con. I don't think that makes me an unfit father and it definitely wouldn't impact my communication skills. Does anything else think that a) this is just wrong or b) there is something more to this than the "news piece" lets on?
